Description

The Scotch Bonnet, also known as Jamaican Scotch Bonnet, is one of the most common peppers of Caribbean countries. The scotch bonnet is present in many typical dishes of the place, where it is one of the main ingredients. In the Caribbean there are many qualities of chillies, including Bird Pepper or the most famous Habanero, one of the hottest chillies on the market: however, when we talk about “Caribbean chilli”, we are referring to Scotch Bonnet.

Jamaican Scotch Bonnet belongs to the Capsicum Chinense peppers species.

jamaican scotch bonnet pepper plants are very complex and require masterly care in order to guarantee maximum yield in terms of flavor..

To cultivate chillies it is important to choose a soil that has traces of clayey and sandy soil inside.

The acidity of the soil is equally important, choosing a basic and alkalized soil allows the fruits to feed properly.

After carefully choosing the soil, another important step in growing Scotch Bonnet is the care of the sprout. The Scotch Bonnet plant needs the correct amount of water to grow and avoid drying out.

Even in an advanced stage of growth, a sudden decrease in watering, could irreversibly stop the ripening.

Only a correct cultivation and an adequate care of the soil will allow to obtain Scotch Bonnets with a fully characteristic, spicy taste and a very marked spiciness note, respecting the Scoville scale of the original breed of the fruits of this plant.
