Description

The Diavolicchio Diamante Pepper, which belongs to the Capsicum annuum species, is one of the most common varieties in Calabria.

The origin of the name is linked to the town of “Diamante”, which is located right in Calabria. The city hosts the “Peperoncino Festival”, and this town gave fame to this pepper, which was previously called simply Diavolicchio.

The fruit has the shape of a very elongated and often curved cone, which reaches up to 7-8cm in length. It has a dark green color that changes to an intense red when ripe. The Diavolicchio Diamante Chili Pepper have an average spiciness: 40,000-50,000 Scoville.

This chilli is used to prepare the typical chilli necklaces, dried in the sun, in order to be stored for a long time. By grinding the fruits of this chilli, a powder with a pleasant scent can be obtained, ideal for giving aroma and light spiciness in the kitchen.
